Michael Pachter, the analyst who is watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, says that on launch new video games for the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox 720 from Microsoft will sell for 70 dollars or Euro.

Geoff Keighly, a video game writer, quotes the analyst via Twitter, “At #SXSW panel @michaelpachter says PS4 and next Xbox games will likely cost 70 dollars, 10 dollars more than current gen.”

Neither of the two companies has made an official announcement about prices for video game releases.

Gamers will probably be unwilling to pay 10 dollars or Euro more than they do for the current generation of consoles, especially given the plethora of promotions and cuts that are further bringing down prices at the moment.

Next-gen prices are also expected to be lower as the new devices offer day and date digital launches.
