SCE President Shuhei Yoshida says Vita is a good PS Now terminal and PS4 companion device

Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, hinted at Sony considering bundling the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita together, part of future promoting efforts for the Remote Play feature.

Sony seems not to be blowing its own horn about the feature yet, not capitalizing on the streaming functionality completely for now. As there has not yet been too much advertising about the service, in spite of its cool factor, this could be an indication that marketing for it is underway at Sony, which could also include a PS4 and PS Vita bundle.

Yoshida said that although some European retailers did put together an unofficial bundle that packaged the two platforms together, Sony has not yet made any moves in that direction. He did not discount the initiative, though.

"Never say never. In the past, we did something like Bravia TV and PS3 bundle, so that's even bigger. So never say never," he said in an interview with Polygon.

"We are super excited about how people are using it. We are bringing PS TV with that feature and the tech teams are constantly working to improve the experience as well. It's a Gaiki team who's tech is provided. You are on a streaming service, so the basic tech is the same whether it's PS Now or Remote Play, and latency is super important. So we will continue to provide more utility to Vita as a PS4 companion device as well as PS Now terminal," Yoshida concluded.
