Fergal Gara, the leader of the Sony division in the United Kingdom working on gaming hardware, says that a number of surprising and precious experiences will be launched on the PlayStation 4 in 2014.

The executive is quoted by NeoGAF as saying that, “All of our major studios are working on PS4 content. These guys are experimenting with and working on the new platform.”

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 is available in the United States and in Europe, although those who want to buy the hardware might be forced to wait for a while before they actually get access to a device.

Gara adds, “They may not have announced games specifically but our big studio network is focused primarily on PS4. Their heritage is fantastic and it is a great platform to develop for. So I am looking forward to some great surprises and amazing experiences. There are going to be some real gems.”

For the moment we know that Sony will be delivering DriveClub on the PlayStation 4 before the end of spring, after the development team manages to polish the title, which was initially set to be a launch game.

Infamous: Second Son is also set to be launched exclusively on the PS4 at some point in 2014.

The Order: 1886 is another game that will be out on the platform next year, although it does not have an official launch window.

Neither Sony nor its individual studios have offered clear details on other big projects that are expected to arrive in 2014.

The PlayStation 4 has managed to get past 2 million in sales before the holiday season and Sony is expected to offer more information on its market performance in early January.

Details about other games for the platform will probably be offered before E3 in June.
