Sony announces that it can no longer guarantee that those who pre-order the PlayStation 4 from a United Kingdom store will get a device on launch date, according to data from the retailers.

ShopTo states, “Sony have confirmed all PlayStation 4 pre-orders placed from 6th August will now not be guaranteed for launch. You can still pre-order PS4 with us in case we receive cancellations and can fulfill your order for launch.”

Rumors about such a move appeared towards the end of July for the first time.

It’s unclear whether Sony has enough PlayStation 4's in production to fulfill orders in the United States or if a similar warning will soon be linked to worldwide pre-orders.

Analysts believe that pre-orders for next-gen consoles are much bigger than those for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Sony says that the PlayStation 4 will be launched worldwide before Christmas for a price of 399 dollars or Euro.
