Andrew House, the chief executive officer at the Sony video game division, says that his team has not made a camera part of the PlayStation 4 launch package because it would have increased its cost and it was not a priority for users.

The executive is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that, “the vast majority of the audience that we speak to tells us that their primary wish is for the full controller interface.”

The PlayStation 4 will be launched for 399 dollars or Euro, while its main rival, the Microsoft-made Xbox One, is selling for 499 dollars or Euro, including a Kinect camera and sensors for motion tracking.

Sony has said that its new hardware is mainly aimed at gamers and a camera is only a priority for those who want to use its multimedia capabilities.

The PlayStation 4 will be out on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe.
