Sony has confirmed that the party chat system in the PlayStation 4 will be a cross-platform experience, meaning owners of the next-gen console can talk with friends who own the handheld device.

The PS4 is out this November, and Sony has emphasized just how important the relationship between the new home console and the current PS Vita is, as most PS4 games will support things like Remote Play, allowing them to be experienced on the PS Vita.

Now, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed on Twitter that the party chat system on the PS4 is a cross-platform experience, meaning PS4 and PS Vita owners can talk to one another easily.

The feature is unlikely to appear for the PS3, however, as the console's hardware and software weren't designed with such a system in mind.
