The PlayStation 4 will see its HDCP encryption removed when playing video games, through a patch after the console's launch this November, meaning owners of the console won't be able to capture direct footage from the device as soon as they set it up.

The PlayStation 3 has annoyed a lot of gamers ever since its release due to the fact that the HDMI signal is encrypted with HDCP, meaning video capture cards can't record any footage when connected to the PS3 via HDMI, only through the component connection.

The PS4 will eliminate this restriction, as Sony has already confirmed such plans last week.

Sadly, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has revealed on Twitter that the HDCP encryption would be removed through a post-launch update.

This means that PS4 owners who want to share any footage from their games will have to use the built-in Share function until the patch comes out.
