Platform holder Sony is delivering a new and pretty solid commercial for its PlayStation 4 home console, which is designed to show the many video game experiences that gamers can cooperate or compete in while also kicking off the start of the 2014 holiday sales season.

The footage shows brief sequences from major releases like Destiny from Bungie, NBA 2K15 from 2K Games and Far Cry 4 from Ubisoft, all of which have already been launched on other platforms but have been heavily associated with the device via advertising and special promotions.

The ad is also designed to emphasize how gamers can use the titles to collaborate in order to achieve major goals, while also competing on friendly terms in order to see which one performs better.

Sony has been touting the social elements of the PlayStation 4 since the home console was first announced and it seems that they have played a major role in the past year in order to make the device a success all over the world.

It’s interesting to note that the company has not been using any platform exclusive titles for its campaign, which might suggest that it is not overly worried about the competition provided by the Xbox One from Microsoft.

The PlayStation 4 has managed to move more than 10 million units to gamers all over the world, and during the Christmas shopping season, Sony is probably hoping to widen its advantage.

The coming two months are very important for all the companies that are linked to the video game industry because sales increase significantly, as a wide number of customers either pick up their favorite titles or buy games to use them as Christmas presents.

Exclusive deals for the PlayStation 4 and advertising campaigns

The ad delivered by Sony and similar coming efforts from Microsoft emphasize the power of the two devices and the variety of entertainment experiences that they can introduce.

Some analysts have speculated that the Xbox One will get another 50 dollar price cut in order to make it more attractive to potential customers, but the company has denied that it plans any such move.

The PlayStation 4 probably does not need a cut in its own price, but Sony might introduce a number of bundles using major releases, like FIFA 15, Far Cry 4 and others, in order to make its own platform more interesting.

Both companies will eagerly await to see the hardware sales numbers for November and December.
