It seems that the development team at Sony in charge of bringing new features to the PlayStation 4 is at the moment working hard to create a full list of features for firmware 2.50 for the home console and that one of the most important mechanics it will add is a suspend and resume system which will make it easier for gamers to keep their sessions running.

Gematsu has managed to get access to information from a number of sources showing that gamers will be able to enter rest mode without actually closing any applications on their device and to adjust the setting using the Power Save Settings and then going to Set Functions Available in Rest Mode.

A full list of the other tweaks that are being implemented by the 2.50 firmware update for the PlayStation 4 can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article.

It seems that the Sony team will make it easier for gamers to deal with Trophies and that there are also modifications made to SharePlay.

Given that the 2.40 firmware update is currently in a beta stage, big changes could be made before it is delivered to all those who own a PlayStation 4 home console.

Sony has said that it wants to add new functionality to its platform as soon as possible, but no official launch date has been mentioned so far.

Firmware is important in the contest between the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One

Both Sony and Microsoft need to introduce new features to their home consoles in order to keep them competitive, and that means the companies have increased the deployment rate for firmware.

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 is leading worldwide and United States sales, but Microsoft has been trying a range of measures to make the Xbox One more attractive to gamers.

Sony has said that it has no plans to introduce a price cut in the coming months and that means it will rely on listening to the community and on adding more functionality using coming firmware.

The company also plans to launch the Project Morpheus virtual reality headset, which now has a redesigned look, in the first few months of 2016.
