The team at Sony preparing the launch of the PlayStation 4 home console says that the new device will allow all those interested to use the game recording features without the need to pay a subscription to the Plus version of PSN.

The information comes from the Twitter account of Shuhei Yoshida, the leader of the Worldwide Studios, who responded to a number of questions from players.

The announcement comes after Microsoft confirmed that only those who pay for the Gold version of Xbox Live would be able to use the game DVR function on the Xbox One.

Traditionally, Sony has been eager to offer players as many features as possible for free, and that might give the PS4 the upper hand in the coming next-gen console battle.

Both devices are set to launch in November this year.
