A brand new test on the PlayStation 4 has shown that the next-gen console from Sony consumes anywhere between 80W and 140W and that it can heat up to around 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit).

The PS4 has already made its debut in North America, and lots of different websites have begun to share their experiences with the next-gen console.

The team at Digital Foundry did some tests concerning the console's power requirements and its heating, both during regular use in the menu and while playing demanding games.

According to the results, while it's in the menu, the PS4 requires around 80W but this grows to 120W while playing a game and to a maximum of 140W when playing a game and summoning the overall menu.

In terms of heat, the PS4 is reasonable, managing to reach a peak temperature of 45 degrees Celsius or 113 Fahrenheit.
