Sony has confirmed that its PlayStation 4 next-gen console can record 15 minutes of gameplay, as opposed to the Xbox One that can only store the last 5 minutes of footage.

Recording and broadcasting gameplay footage, either through videos or live streams, has become a necessity for next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as Sony even has a dedicated Share button its DualShock 4 controller.

Now, after hearing that the Xbox One can record the last 5 minutes of gameplay or 30-seconds intervals, Sony has revealed that the PS4 can record 15 minutes of gameplay.

The statement was made to CVG and confirms that the last 15 minutes of footage can be accessed via the Share button, edited, and uploaded to Ustream so that it can appear on the PlayStation Network.

More details about the whole system are expected to appear as we get closer to the PS4 launch this year.
