14 DAY TRIAL // Hardware creator Sony says that the auto-update feature and all social elements of the coming PlayStation 4 will be offered for free to all users of the device, without a requirement to use the PlayStation Plus service.
Fergal Gara, the managing director for the company for the United Kingdom and Ireland, tells VideoGamer that, “The social features of PS4 and PS4 games sit out of the subscription service, things like auto-updates on PS4 sit outside of PlayStation Plus, so we’re trying to be as balanced and as fair as we possibly can.”
The executive believes that players will use the new features to connect to friends and expand their gaming experience.
On the PlayStation 4, online multiplayer will require a subscription for the Plus service, which will also offer access to free titles, discounts and extra content.
