US$ 100 Xbox 360 story all over again

It was about time for the PlayStation 3 to become more available. This could happen sooner than you think, courtesy of Amazon. Moreover, let us not forget the Wii, because Nintendo's next-gen will become available too, on Amazon.

Crunchgear reports that - "in the coming" days - both Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii will become available for purchase on Amazon. They say that they have received this information from a reliable source, although that reliable source does not reveal the exact date of this Amazon sale.

I tend to believe this rumor, because there was a previous rumor reporting that a US$ 100 Xbox 360 Core system was going to be available. That rumor turned out to be true, even though that sale caused Amazon a crash of a few minutes. If I remember correctly, just minutes before the sale, because too many people logged on to order an Xbox 360, the website crashed.

Imagine a website of the magnitude of Amazon, which is undoubtedly the world's biggest online retailer, crashing. Anyway - once it crashed - there was nothing left for you to do than to refresh the page. No matter how many times you hit that F5 key you still got the "Sold Out" message. I sincerely hope that the same thing does not happen with the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii sale, because I'm seriously considering to spring for one of these next-gens.

Taking into account that the PS3 and Wii are far more wanted than the Xbox 360 at this point, Amazon should seriously consider upgrading their servers. No other information is available at this point, whether 20Gb or 60GB PS3s will be out on sale, but be sure that I'll let you know as soon as I get word.
