The device will come in three versions in the two territories

After officially revealing the existence of the new, slimmer version of the PlayStation 3 during the Tokyo Games Show, video game hardware creator Sony has revealed the launch dates and the prices for the new device on the Japanese and the European markets.

In Europe a version of the PlayStation 3 Super Slim with 12 GB of internal flash memory will sell for 229 Euro and will be launched on October 12.

The 500 GB hard drive version of the console will be offered earlier, on September 28, for a price of 299 Euros while in Japan the same device will be delivered on October 4 and will cost 29,800 Yen.

On the same day, customers in Japan will also be able to pick up the 250 GB PlayStation 3 Super Slim for the price of 24,900 Yen.

The new PlayStation 3 is 25 percent smaller than the earlier Slim, which was unveiled in 2009, and 50% smaller than the original.
