Sony declines to actually say what new things are included in the software update

Sony has stealthily released yet another firmware update for its PlayStation 3 console, taking it to version 3.73, which, once again, doesn't bring any new features or options to the device.

Firmware updates are a constant bother for lots of PlayStation 3 owners, but Sony is content with just pushing them out in tiny increments, instead of just deploying major updates, like Microsoft is doing with its Xbox 360.

Now, a new update has been deployed by the Japanese company, firmware 3.73, which, thankfully, is a non-mandatory, at least for now. Like with any recent software update after the pretty major 3.70 back in August, Sony hasn't really detailed what's changed, saying only that "stability during use of certain PS3 format software has been improved."

You can download and install the PlayStation 3 firmware 3.73 from your console's System Update section in the XMB menu or from Sony itself, and then install it with a USB drive onto the console.
