
Sony's latest offspring seems to be right on schedule for its November release. According to Chinese business newspaper
The Commercial Times, the
PlayStation 3 is already in production.
The newspaper reports that manufacturer AsusTek Computer Inc. has been busy producing machines since the start of the month, and is to deliver a shipment of 200,000 by the end of July, with more manufacturers set to deliver shipments over the course of the following month.
It is reasonable to assume that Sony would want to set things in motion as early as possible in order to deal with potential problems in a timely manner, but the veracity of the news has yet to be officially confirmed.
Remains to be seen how Sony's new shiny toy will fare, considering it is substantially pricier than its same-generation competition and games may cost more than 600$, the current standard for the highest pricing of games. When you think how quickly novelty wears off in this field...
