Emulators have been around for a while, but now that Windows 8 is alive and kicking, it was only a matter of time before this kind of apps arrived on Microsoft’s new platform.

Snes8x is a Super Nintendo emulator that works on both Windows 8 and Windows RT and is based on the fairly popular Snes9x software tool already available on several Windows versions.

The app is quite easy to use and offers all its features straight in the Modern UI, which means that you can play Super Nintendo games on your Windows RT tablet with minimum effort.

It offers support for Xbox 360 controllers, but it also provides virtual touch controls and keyboard input. Multimedia support is also available, but only for two players.
