Let's face it! Sometimes, the hours spent in front of the computer writing reports or programming can become quite a problem. In fact, "problem" is not the correct word, "boring" is the right one. And on certain days, this boredom goes hand in hand with the laziness.
And what's the best remedy for boredom? Computer games, obviously. But how can you play when you're in a relatively open space and you risk being caught by the wrong person, let's say the department manager?
The answer is Stealth Switch, a device specifically designed
to protect you, the hard-working employee, from warnings, penalties and even from getting fired (an employees from the US was sacked because he was caught playing Solitaire).
Stealth Switch stays on the floor and connects to a USB port or between the keyboard and the computer; its working principle is extremely easy. If you're playing a FPS instead of doing your work and you hear enemy footsteps, all you have to do is to give it a slight tap and all the windows will disappear (not minimized). Additionally, the Stealth Switch is able to mute the sound and hide the taskbar and the desktop icons. After the enemy is gone, a second tap will bring everything back to normal.
Unfortunately it only works with the Windows OSs, the Linux or OS X users being forced to resort to other measures.
The Stealth Switch package, available at
ThinkGeek.com for $24.99, also includes a CD-ROM which contains the software application to configure it.
