Gran Turismo 5 will no longer be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, at least according to its lead designer, Kazunori Yamauchi, who revealed that you would be able to play it through any browser-enabled device, including the PC, Mac or tablet computers.
There's a catch though, as you'll just be able to complete B-spec races so, the actual racing will still be done on the PlayStation 3.
For those not familiar with the new racing game from Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 5's B-spec mode allows players to send orders to an AI-controlled driver, and help him win the race by telling him to speed up, slow down or go in for an overtake.
As you can imagine, sitting through 6-lap races while the AI has all the fun isn't exactly the most exciting experience in the world, so it seems that Polyphony will add the possibility to monitor B-spec races through a browser.
"Monitoring B-spec races from a browser should be ready with an update early next year," revealed Yamauchi on his official Twitter account.
The Polyphony Digital boss also explained that players would be able to share the tracks they create with the course maker with friends, but that feature will also appear at the beginning of next year, through another update to the game.
Gran Turismo 5 is set to receive lots of other features through future updates, and it has also seen improvements made
to the online mode, as well as
the damage option through recent title updates that were released by Polyphony Digital.
According to a previous statement from Yamauchi, owners of Gran Turismo 5 should expect lots of other improvements to be made to the game through future updates, as the development team didn't have enough time to fit them all in the final build of the game.
Does the possibility of controlling Gran Turismo 5's B-spec races from a browser make you interested or should Polyphony be working on something else?
