Following their successful software virtualization application, PlateSpin has come with an innovative disaster recovery hardware device to work in combination with physical and virtual servers. The PlateSpin
Forge appliance protects the server workloads and uses VMware Infrastructure as its foundation.

The new recovery solution comes pre-packed and pre-configured with hardware and software to help accelerated deployment. PlateSpin has always been focused on innovation, and delivered, during the time, the first multi-platform virtualization management solution, as well as the physical-to-virtual migration software, awarded early this year. The company has pushed things even farther, with their one-click disaster recovery solution.

"Traditional recovery infrastructures have failed to keep pace with business requirements," said Stephen Pollack, founder and CEO of PlateSpin Ltd. "Organizations often have had to choose between costly and complex clustering and high-end replication solutions or suboptimal lower-cost alternatives like tape backups that can be slow and cumbersome to test and restore. Offering a comprehensive, affordable and easy-to-use appliance for protecting the majority of workloads in the data center, PlateSpin Forge provides a new alternative for deploying and managing disaster recovery solutions. "

The hardware solution for disaster recovery includes specific modules that allows the user protect, recover and then deploy the back-up data, should storage incidents occur.

The "Plug In and Protect Workloads" feature offers complete protection for up to 25 physical or virtual workloads, with the hardware and software already configured. The "Rapid One Click Recovery" makes the post-disaster recovery a matter of hitting the power button. The administrator can easily recover the affected workloads at a single mouse click.

With PlateSpin Forge, organizations can achieve recovery time and point objectives that approach the level of protection provided by clustering for a cost that is closer to imaging and tape backup solutions. As enterprises explore new ways to extend their use of infrastructure virtualization technologies, PlateSpin Forge makes it easy and affordable to implement, manage and test a virtual recovery infrastructure designed to protect both physical and virtual assets in the data center.

PlateSpin Forge will hit the U.S. retailers' shelves on January 15th the next year, with immediate availability for other markets.
