Plants vs Zombies on Android

A new, highly addictive game is now available for download on devices running under Google's Android operating system, namely Plants vs Zombies.

The new game was already announced as being on its way to the Android operating system, and, starting today, it is available for those who would like to spend some time killing zombies.

The mobile game was made available through the Amazon Appstore, and can be downloaded for free, today only.


Usually, the Plants vs Zombies game for Android would be priced at $2.99. However, Amazon promised the new title for free during the first day of availability, and they kept their word, is seems.

Those who would like to download the new game to give is a try should connect to a WiFi network for that.

PopCap Games, Inc. signed an exclusivity deal with Amazon, through which the latter would be the only distributor of the game for Android devices for a while.

However, those who would rather have the new title downloaded from the Android Market might not have to wait that much before PopCap puts it there too.

For the time being, the game is available only for Android users living in the United States, since the usage of Amazon's Appstore is limited to this country. However, it should arrive on more markets and on more devices soon.

Plants vs Zombies is already a highly popular game on other platforms out there, and should arrive on even more of them soon, including Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 OS.

- Enjoy a horticultural new twist on tower defense gameplay
- See the undead shamble across your lawn with charmingly gruesome graphics and animations
- Upgrade your army with the help of Crazy Dave
- Cultivate your garden for a yield of killer crops

The Android flavor of the game was not optimized for use on tablet PCs, although it should run on them. However, there are a series of Android handsets that would certainly not offer support for the game.

According to Amazon, these phones would be: Motorola DROID (works on DROID 2 and some DROID X's), Devour, Flipside, Samsung Transform, Intercept, HTC Aria, MyTouch 3G, Sony Ericsson X8, Sanyo Zio, Kyocera Echo, LG Ally.
