PopCap has just deployed its award winning Plants vs. Zombies tower defense game on the PlayStation Vita, allowing owners of the new console to download this special version of the very popular game on their handheld device.

Plants vs. Zombies has delighted millions of players from all over the world across a variety of platforms, from the PC, to the PS3, Xbox 360 and pretty much anything in between, including mobile devices like the iPhone or iPad.

Now, in honor of the PlayStation Vita’s official release earlier this week, developer PopCap has just launched Plants vs. Zombies on the PlayStation Store for the new portable console.

“Plants Vs. Zombies is coming to your brand-spankin’ new PS Vita,” PopCap revealed. “If you have never played our action-puzzler — that pits a horde of horticultural heroes against a mob of fetid, undead, brain-eating zombies – there is no better time than now. The PS Vita version is darn near the most perfect version of Plants Vs. Zombies yet, taking advantage of the handheld console’s touchscreen and internal motion sensors.”

Plenty of content is included in the game’s Vita version, like the complete story campaign that spans 50 levels, as well as the bonus Zen Garden. Lots of extra activities are also present in Plants vs. Zombies for the Vita, including 20 mini-games, 18 puzzle games, and 10 survival games. Players can also access the Zombatar zombie creation tool, and post their times on online leaderboards.

Trophy enthusiasts can also earn a total of 43 trophies throughout the game, including a platinum one, once you complete all of the challenges that were scattered by PopCap across the title’s various modes.

Plants vs. Zombies for the PlayStation Vita is now available as a digital download via the PlayStation Store. It costs just $14.99/€14.99, but you do need a memory card on which to keep it.
