Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the third-person shooter variation of the classic Plants vs. Zombies strategy experience, will launch for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on February 18, in North America, and February 20, in Europe. A PC version will follow at a later time.

Plants vs. Zombies delighted millions of gamers, both casual and veteran ones, a few years ago and now, after developer PoCap was acquired by Electronic Arts, quite a few new experiences have appeared, from the Plants vs. Zombies Adventures Facebook game, to the Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time mobile title.

By far the most ambitious, however, is Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, a shooter variation on the traditional recipe, letting players control both plants and zombies in fierce online matches.

After detailing the experience earlier this year, EA has now confirmed some more details and a set of release dates.

"The game has more than 10 maps and three distinct modes including two 12v12 competitive multiplayer modes called Garden & Graveyards and Team Vanquish, and a four-player co-operative mode called Garden Ops," EA said about the title in an official statement.

"In Garden & Graveyards, plants must defend their garden bases from zombies attempting to turn them into spooky graveyards. Players can also square off in Team Vanquish as they try to send the other team to the compost pile. For gamers that just want to have a fun time with their friends, they can work together in Garden Ops battling off waves of zombies on the attack."

The game will come out for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and a PC version is also planned, although that will appear at a later date. The next-gen edition will also benefit from more experiences.

"On Xbox One, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare includes two extra modes including local cooperative split screen and Boss Mode. With split screen, players can team up with a friend on the couch to fight against an endless horde of zombies."

"In Boss Mode, gamers can utilize their Kinect or a SmartGlass device in any of the other gameplay modes to support their teams. Players have a top-down view of the battlefield and can help out their teammates with intel, health drops, revive stations and explosive artillery strikes."

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare launches on February 18, in North America, and February 20, in Europe on Xbox One and 360. The PC edition will get a release date at a later time.
