The development team at PopCap Games and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that their biology-based shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is at the moment free for 72 full hours for all those who download it on the Origin digital distribution service on the PC.

At the same time, gamers can get new downloadable content for the title, which is being offered in partnership with Cheetos and Target.

The company states, "Have you been looking to make the battle for suburbia more deliciously stylish? Perhaps you’ve been looking for some savings, or a way to obtain a mind-blowingly beautiful custom next-gen console? Or maybe you’ve just been longing for some Cheetos with an awesome sticker on it?"

Starting on August 19 there will be special Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Cheetos snacks in Target stores, and gamers who pick them up can get 10 dollars (7.7 Euro) off the official price of the title and access to a code.

The code can be redeemed to gain access to Dr. Chester and Chester Chomper characters and new Craaazy Sticker Pack with consumables, accessories, and other items.

A contest is also taking place, which can get players access to a custom designed controller, an Xbox One, or a PlayStation 4. The promotion runs until September 26.
