Electronic Arts is continuing its On The House promotion on the Origin digital distribution service and is now offering Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition for free until May 28.

EA surprised a lot of people last month when it revealed a special new program on its Origin digital service called On The House, which promises to offer big games for free to all users of the program on PC.

The deal kicked off with Dead Space 1 and now a new title has replaced it, in the form of Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition.

Without a doubt, the new title was chosen to coincide with the upcoming release on PC of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the multiplayer-only shooter based on the franchise from PopCap.

Even so, the original title is still an amazing tower defense game that pioneered the genre and the Game of the Year edition includes a variety of new things, like the Zombatar, which lets you create your own zombie avatar, plus bonus mini-games, the Zen Garden mode, or the Survival one.

Expect another free game to replace Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition on May 29, as EA is continuing its On The House program.
