The folks at EA have just released a new content update for their smash hit Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android devices. Although not as popular as the previous title in the series, Plants vs. Zombies 2 has more than 10 million downloads on Google Play Store, in part due to the fact that it’s available for free.

Anyway, the update released today is the first part of a bigger one that’s called Dark Ages. As expected, the update brings new content and improvements, as well as some bug fixes.

According to the official changelog, part 1 of the new Dark Ages update adds new plants that “thrive in the dark of night,” but also new zombies and a Gargantuan “from the days of yore.”

But there’s more to it, as EA has also added some “nighttime” levels. Also in this update, all gravestones are now providing sun and powerful plant food.

That’s about all the new features included in this update, but we expect part 2 of Dark Ages to arrive in the coming weeks as well, so stay tuned.

You can now download Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android 2.4.1 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 2.3 and up.
