Plantronics is one of the best-known manufacturers of Bluetooth headsets around the world, creating all sorts of products that steal the eye either with their impressive technological characteristics or with their very cool design. And at CTIA Wireless 2007, the company has announced the launch of their latest model, the Pulsar 260 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, a device that seems to combine in a very interesting manner the two elements mentioned above.

Thus, according to the company's reps, what we're dealing with here is a pendant-style headset designed to support high quality, wireless stereo sound and manage mobile phone calls with the touch of a button. The Pulsar 260 is actually formed out of three distinct elements: a control pendant, which clips very easily to pockets, lapels, shoulder straps etc.; a pair of noise-isolating earbuds with contoured, soft silicone gel tips, which assure an immersive audio experience and a long-lasting level of comfort; and a cabled microphone, which assures crisp and clear voice communications.

"Media enabled handsets are expected to significantly outsell standalone portable music players in the near future - a trend that Plantronics expects to become a catalyst for high quality, audio-plus-voice headset accessories. As technologies converge and more mobile phones are used as multimedia devices, it is increasingly important that stereo headsets offer not only superb sound quality but voice functionality," declared Renee Niemi, general manager and vice president of Mobile and Entertainment at Plantronics, upon announcing the headset's launch. "The Pulsar 260 adds a new dimension to stereo Bluetooth choice by offering a new wearing style and addressing the needs of today's consumer."

Here are some of the most important features and specs the Plantronics Pulsar 260 Stereo Bluetooth Headset has to offer:

- battery: Li-Ion, 9 hours of talking, 7 hours in listening mode; - compatible with: mobile phones featuring the A2DP Bluetooth profile; - range: up to 10 meters; - supports: Audio Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP); - sports: an audio-out cable for connection to any 3.5 jack for full external stereo sound; - features: multipoint connectivity to actively pair with one audio device and one voice device.

According to the company's statement, the Pulsar 260 Stereo Bluetooth Headset is readily available on the market, for around $109.95, quite a fair price for such an interesting device.
