The development team at Sony Online Entertainment is getting ready to make an official announcement about the launch of its MMO Planetside 2 on the PlayStation 4 and has delivered a short teaser which gives fans a taste of what they will get access to.

The team states, "What does it take to rule Auraxis? Strategy! Teamwork! Skill! Get ready for the biggest battle to rule the PlayStation 4 this year!"

SOE has long said that it wants to improve the graphics and the core mechanics of Planetside 2 before launching it on the next-gen consoles.

No cross-play is planned at the moment between the two platforms on which the MMO is currently offered.

Planetside 2 uses the core ideas of the massive multiplayer online genre, but the developers have also integrated a lot of the mechanics that are linked to the shooter space.

The entire experience is free-to-play and gamers who are willing to pay can get access to tools that expand their ability to sustain long campaigns and remain competitive in the long term.

Planetside 2 does not yet have an official launch date on the PS4, but the title might be launched in late summer, before the big games of the fall arrive.
