The development team working on Planetside 2, the MMO from Sony Online Entertainment, has revealed how it will reward those players who are willing to pay a monthly subscription for the game.

Paying members of the game will get access to a faster rate of growth for certification points, 50 percent higher than for those who are playing Planetside 2 for free, but the effect does not target those points gained via experience gain.

The XP aggregation rate will also be 50 percent higher than for those who are not paying and an automatic boost for obtained resources, which will also affect the rate at which the player gets access to consumables including grenades, med kits and spawn beacons.

For paying Planetside 2 players, Sony will also increase the cap for resources like Catalysts, Alloys and Polymers by 100%.

There are also priority slots in the queue for paying customers.

The developers have also explained how they plan to approach the pay-to-win concept, saying, “In Planetside 2 we don’t restrict your character from any type of gameplay based on paying money. No weapon, vehicle, attachment, continent, class or certification is unavailable to you as a free player. Everything and anything that can affect gameplay is available to unlock through gameplay.”

Sony Online Entertainment is making it clear that they will never restrict access to elements of the game that would make a player or his group less competitive.

The team added, “On a moment-to-moment basis your ability to compete with and kill my character is entirely based on our personal skill. I should never be able to acquire an item that makes it just straight-up easier to kill you, or makes it straight up harder for you to kill me.”

Planetside 2 is at the moment in a beta stage and should be out on the PC before the end of the year.
