Independent game development studio Cubical Drift has announced the commencement of the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for their first project, Planets3.

Planets3 is an upcoming 3D open-world voxel-based first-person role-playing game that allows players to escape to an alternate universe where they can roam and build to their hearts' content.

With an intricate plot and outstanding voxel-based design, the game offers nearly limitless interaction opportunities for players to unleash their creativity.

The adventures will take place on planets made out of thousands of billions of blocks, which can be combined in a wide variety of ways to build beautiful objects and different landscape elements of all shapes and sizes.

Players will encounter lots of characters in their journeys, in the form of natives who will ask them to complete various tasks and in turn offer assistance with their crafting skills, researching new recipes, helping to build new structures and repair broken items, reverse engineer various objects in order to learn their secrets and ultimately fight by your side against any enemy.

Planets are split into different zones, representing various levels of difficulty and marking the player's progression. Character advancement will be made organically, with running and jumping improving an avatar's condition, and making for faster running and higher jumps.

The same applies to operating heavy tools or weapons, which will improve strength, and pushing the avatar's limits, which will increase its stamina and resistance.

Players will be afforded a wide range of choice when it comes to what kind of fighter they want to become, and will team together in order to take on the most challenging of enemies, most of which will be found inside dungeons.

Dungeons will hold many enemies and bosses, and will be destructible, provided players have the right tools for the job, otherwise having to make their way through the labyrinths in the old-fashioned way.

Players will also be able to harvest valuable resources and use the wide range of shapes and materials available to create everything they need, from tools and vehicles to entire houses.

The extensive crafting system will be an essential feature of the game, as all objects are obtained by assembling them from subparts, each subpart conferring unique properties to the final production.

The game is currently featured on Kickstarter in an early development stage, and all the elements are in place to develop a PC version, with all that is required being the gaming community's support.
