14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Online Entertainment has released a new batch of screenshots for their upcoming PlanetSide 2 MMO, showing off the capabilities of the game engine in a series or renders.
The images are pretty varied and show both vehicles and actual characters, with a rather impressive level of detail, given that Sony is developing an MMO that needs to also be playable on older machines.
The game uses the Forge Light Engine from Sony.
The game will offer players the same three factions of the original PlanetSide and will task players with choosing a combat role and then working with colleagues to gain territory and beat back enemy factions.
The world will have more options than in the first game and players will also get access to a wide array of upgrade options for characters.
PlanetSide 2 will be launched exclusively on the PC at some point during 2012, but Sony might also be stealthily planning a PlayStation 3 version of the MMO.
