It's been delayed because it needs different approvals

We already reported a few days ago that PlanetSide 2 closed beta would land on PlayStation 4 this week, but as Sony announced, it's only available in North America.

None of the other territories has been included in this closed beta for PlanetSide 2, though developers did confirm there might be a slight delay in deploying the beta in Europe.

Well, it looks like that “slight delay” has turned into a few weeks, as PlanetSide 2 creative director Matt Higby has just confirmed that the closed beta will be available in Europe in 2-3 weeks.

This means that the Europeans who registered for a beta key will have to wait until February in order to play the game, if they get invited. The reason for this delay would be the fact that kicking off a closed beta for PlanetSide 2 in Europe requires different approvals.

We're not sure whether developers knew about that before starting the closed beta in North America or it's a last-minute change. Either way, the fact still remains that PlanetSide 2 fans in Europe have been left out from the initial rollout of the closed beta.

An exact release date for the European beta will be announced later on

Even so, if you're living in Europe, then you should know that not many players have been invited into the closed beta, though more invitations will be handed out starting tomorrow morning.

PlanetSide 2 is expected to be released on PlayStation 4 later this year, but the game has been released on PC for more than 2 years.

The current closed beta is meant to help developers gather enough feedback from players to remove as many bugs from the game until it gets released. At the same time stress testing the servers is another reason these betas are run by developers before launching their MMOs.

This means that if you get into PlanetSide 2 closed beta, then you should offer your feedback in case you find any bugs or want any particular improvements to be added to the game.
