Only a few thousand players will be initially invited

Sony announced earlier this month that PlanetSide 2 closed beta would arrive on PlayStation 4 on January 20. Those who wanted to participate in the closed beta could register via the game's website, but only a few thousand players will be initially invited, Sony announced.

If you've been among the first to register, then you might be in luck, as Sony confirmed players would be invited to Beta chronologically.

Those who haven't registered yet can still do it via PlanetSide 2's website, though the chances of taking part to the closed beta are now smaller, as there are many players waiting their turn.

Anyway, according to Clint Worley, the game's executive producer, they did not just create a port for PlayStation 4, instead they have developed a full console first-person shooter experience that players will be able to get their teeth into beginning today.

The Closed Beta will allow developers to gain player feedback and make sure that PlanetSide 2 for PlayStation 4 will offer a smooth gameplay experience.

Europeans will have to wait a bit longer to get into the beta

Unfortunately, the closed beta is only available in the United States, but Sony states that it will expand the Beta to future countries in Europe and other territories in the near future.

It's also worth mentioning that if you've been among the first to be accepted into the closed beta, you should know that during the first week there will be limited server availability. However, as developers are moving closer toward launch, players should expect 24/7 availability to kick in.

The good news is Sony will announce server downtimes in advance, so PlanetSide 2 players know when they can log in.

PlanetSide 2 is expected to be launched on PlayStation 4 later this year, but an exact release date has yet to be announced so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
