Planet Puzzle League, otherwise known as Puzzle League in Europe or even Panel de Pon DS, under which name it was launched in Japan, is a video game made exclusively for the Nintendo DS, and part of the popular Puzzle League or Panel de Pon visual matching puzzle game series. It was published by Nintendo after a studio owned by the company, Intelligent Systems, created it, consisting of a team that also worked on the cult classic Tetris Attack. Planet Puzzle League was released firstly in Japan on April 26, secondly in North America on June 4, and, last but not least, in Europe on June 29.
The title is a classic puzzle, as identically-sized square blocks or panels of various colors are stacked in a two-dimensional wall, which is six spaces wide and twelve spaces tall. This wall makes the blocks align according to an invisible grid, and players must complete lines in order to generate more space.
The game is played by default by holding the Nintendo DS sideways, which hasn't been used by many other titles. This allows a vertically-oriented playing field to be displayed, along with larger blocks that make the game much easier. If you really want to normally play it on the DS, then you can hold it horizontally and push the buttons to orient the blocks. Also, you can configure it for either left- or right-handed players.
