Even paramedics didn’t expect model and fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs to survive after the terrible accident she suffered when she walked into the propeller of a plane that was still spinning. Today, reports say her recovery is doing wonderfully.

Investigators are still trying to determine what happened last weekend on a private airport, when she walked into the propeller of a landed plane, which should have been turned off.

The paramedics who arrived on the scene said her injuries were so terrible it was a wonder she was still alive. Doctors who saw her afterwards were reserved about her condition.

People magazine is now reporting that the 23-year-old is making excellent progress: she’s walking and she’s talking.

“Lauren Scruggs, the model and blogger who was severely injured in a plane propeller accident on Saturday, is making strides – quite literally – in her recovery,” People writes.

The happy news is confirmed by an enthusiastic post on her official website.

“Lauren walks! This morning ... the physical therapist assisted Lauren in walking for the first time,” it reads.

“Once she got halfway there, she said, '30.' Not sure what she meant, [her family] asked her what that means, she replied, 'Steps!' What a praise, she was counting every step that she took!,” the post further announces.

Lauren said her first words after the terrible accident on Monday, when she told her family that she loved them. At the time, she still didn’t know the full extent of her injuries.

As we also informed you a short while ago, Lauren lost her left hand in the accident. She’s also undergone surgery on her left shoulder and the left side of her face.

A spokesperson for the family tells People that, while her recovery is amazing, she still has a long way to go.

“The left eye is still non-responsive, the doctors will continue monitoring it for the next few days. Please pray [for] Lauren as she begins to learn the extent of her injuries,” the rep states.
