Only a few days ago, model, fashion blogger and fashionista Lauren Scruggs was involved in an accident that could have easily cost her her life, when she walked into the spinning propeller of a plane.

She is now making amazing progress.

As the video below will confirm, all signs point to that Lauren will eventually be able to return to normalcy even though, because of the accident, her life will never be what it was again.

After she walked into the spinning propeller of a plane, Lauren's injuries were so severe that doctors didn't even think she'd make it.

Her face was slashed, she was injured severely in the shoulder and her left hand had been severed off. Days later, she also lost her left eye.

However, now, she's using a stationary bike, she's eating well, and can even pick her own clothes and dress herself, an ABC News segment informs.

“She really shouldn't be alive, so we feel blessed in that and although she has some challenges ahead, we're lucky to have her,” her mother Cheryl Scruggs says.

“She is going through intense physical, occupational and cognitive therapies and responding stunningly. Her spirit is amazing,” the family says in a blog post documenting Lauren's progress.

Even with all this, she is in terrible pain at times. “Along with the pain she was already experiencing with her arm and shoulder injuries, the removal of the left eye is also very painful,” the family says.

The family remains confident that Lauren will pull through and, from what they're saying, so is Lauren herself.

“The best present we have received this Christmas is her life,” her mother says.

An investigation into the causes of the accident is still underway. It is believed she turned to the pilot to wave goodbye and didn't notice that the propeller was still spinning.

The family does not blame the pilot for the accident, believed to be a close family friend.
