At the beginning of December, after a 30-minute flight to see the Christmas lights from up above, fashion blogger and model Lauren Scruggs walked into the spinning propeller of a plane, losing her left hand on the spot and suffering severe injuries to the head.

Yesterday was the first time she was spotted out in public since the tragic accident.

The Daily Mail has photos. It says Lauren and her family where living the hospital where she'd been treated for the injuries sustained.

By the looks of the pics, it's pretty clear that her mother wasn't lying when she said, earlier on, that Lauren was making a “miraculous” recovery.

The model was wearing a cap that she had lowered on her face to hide her bandaged eye. She also used the sleeve of her sports jacket to hide the injury on her left arm, which was obviously missing the hand.

Other than that, though, Lauren was looking very good, even though understandably pale and thinner.

“Brave Lauren, 23, is said to be doing well despite her appalling ordeal, and she looked in good spirits as she faced the camera again,” the Mail writes.

“As she walked rigidly upright wearing stylish sneakers, pedal-pushers and a blue halterneck top, she also had a baseball cap pulled down over her face, hiding her bandaged left eye,” adds the tab.

Further proof that Lauren is coping well with her new situation comes from her post on her fashion blog, LoLo, the first update she's given since she was involved in the accident.

In it, she thanks the millions of people from all over the world who reached out to her and her family to show their support.

“i don’t know how to thank each one of you, properly, for so much love during this difficult incident in my life. my heart is so grateful beyond what i could ever imagine,” she wrote.

“so thank you dearly for the sweet encouragements, the precious words in letters and messages, the beautiful grace in pretty presents, but mostly i am so SO thankful for you and your loving hearts and sweet spirits,” Lauren adds.

“i wonderfully know that we are all so adored by the amazing and powerful Lord, and nothing is greater than walking in His planned-out lives. Jesus Christ is imaginably glorious and worthy of all praise even in the hardest moments,” she concludes by saying.
