Ndemic Creations is sounding the horn on a beta testing initiative involving the Plague Inc: Evolved launch on Macs. The studio is looking for volunteers to help them polish up the game before its planned release.

A fine mix of high strategy and realistic simulation, Plague Inc. started out on iOS as a $0.99 / €0.89 game where you’re tasked with creating a pathogen. Your end goal is to infect the whole world.

According to the description, “Your pathogen has just infected 'Patient Zero'. Now you must bring about the end of human history by evolving a deadly, global Plague whilst adapting against everything humanity can do to defend itself.”

Plague Inc. has been heralded as one of the best games of its kind. Having learned of their game’s success, Ndemic decided they’d make a Mac version too. The game is almost done, but they need some real-world testing too, just to ensure no bugs have slipped through the cracks (the software kind, of course).

Ndemic makes the announcement on its forums, where it states, “A lot of people have been asking us to bring Plague Inc: Evolved to Mac, and we are excited to say we are nearly there!”

“We have managed to get things working quicker than expected, however before we launch it fully we would like to find some volunteers to help us make sure it's bug free (apart from the good, world-killing ones...).”

Mac gamers looking to apply for the beta testing initiative will need to have a Steam account.

To be added to the beta, all they need to do is email “[email protected]” with the subject title “Mac Tester” and answer a bunch of questions about their system specs, spare time, gaming habits, etc. All the questions are listed below.

• What is your favourite disease type; • What was the last game you played on Mac • What is your best Plague Inc. strategy • How much time do you have to play in the next week • What Mac system are you using? • What OS version are you currently running?

Ndemic cautions that there are only a handful of slots available, “so best and fastest responses only will get added to the team,” according to the post.

The announcement doesn’t include any actual system requirements, which probably means that Plague Inc: Evolved will not drain too many of your Mac’s resources. To learn more about the game, or to play it on your iDevice, see the iOS version of Plague Inc. on the iTunes App Store.
