YouTube, Google, and Twitter are just some of the tools that had a part to play

About 12 hours ago Placebo set out a world-first event on the Internet. By building a partnership with Google and YouTube, the British band managed to bring the first-ever global Live TV show as an album release party.

Loud Like Love TV” was a show that lasted for close to two hours (rather than the scheduled 90 minutes). The band performed several tracks from the new album (“Loud Like Love,” “Exit Wounds,” “Purify,” etc) as well as one that dates back to the band’s beginnings, “Teenage Angst.”

Aside from the live performances, the event included contests for fans, a walk back in the band’s history, behind the scenes footage for one of Placebo’s latest videos, and many others.

Since the entire project also involved a collaboration with Google, it got a special Google+ event and fans had the opportunity to ask Placebo questions over a Google Hangout.

Twitter, Instagram, Google+, and YouTube were all taken over by Placebo fans hoping to be a part of this unique event that could set the trend for how album launches are done from here on out.

For full disclosure’s sake, I must admit I have been a Placebo fan for longer than I can remember, I’ve seen them live every time they’ve been in my country, and I hope to add more shows to the list in the years to come.

Regardless of my feelings for Placebo and the fact that I watched the show from start to finish for my own personal reasons, engaging on all platforms available, I have to admit it was like nothing I’ve ever seen or heard of before.

Other bands and artists across the globe should follow the example and offer their fans unique moments such as the show Placebo put on by using the endless tools the Internet has.

Update: Here's the video of the entire LLLTV event. User discretion is advised, as the video contains some mature language.
