Pixel Qi can proudly claim to be one of, if not the only company that can make displays with perfect, or very close to perfect, sunlight readability (Mirasol being another possible example), and it might just manage to actually make them more widely available.

Liquid Crystal Displays may be the most rapidly-growing segment of the display market, but they aren't the best out there.

In fact, one might say that at least a major part of the reason why no other technologies have risen to challenge it yet is because of lack of advertising or funds.

For instance, Pixel Qi has its displays whose visibility is not at all affected by exposure to direct sunlight.

Unfortunately, said screens so far only made it into a few products, like Notion Ink's Adam tablet, and only in a limited supply, because of the company's meager manufacturing capabilities.

Since its displays are seen as quite worthwhile by customers, however, Pixel Qi decided to do something about its supply.

Thus, it entered an agreement with Chunghwa Picture Tubes and should bring out three new panels over the course of 2011.

Of them, one is known to have a diagonal of 7 inches and a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels, its debut being scheduled for January, during the International CES Trade show in fact.

“"We are excited to be working with Pixel Qi to bring their new transflective LCD technology to market,” said a spokesperson for CPT.

“The combination of Chunghwa Picture Tubes expertise in volume LCD manufacturing and Pixel Qi's innovative low power and sunlight readable display technology promises innovative LCDs for smartphones, tablets and notebooks in 2011."

CPT and Pixel Qi have actually been in talks since early summer and one can assume that 10-inch models will also start to be available in larger numbers.
