Pisi Linux KDE 1.1, an open source solution based on the Pardus Linux distribution, is now available for download and it comes with a lot of new features and changes.

The developers of Pisi Linux have unveiled their second stable release of their distribution and it's quite a big update. There are very few operating systems based on Pardus.

It's a less known Linux distribution and it's been out of the news for the last couple of years. It's not the favorite choice for many users, but it seems to work just fine for Pisi Linux.

Users will notice that many of the packages have been updated. So, if you do have Pisi Linux already installed and you update the system on a regular basis, you won't need to do anything special. If you haven't upgraded until now, this would be a great opportunity.

Pisi Linux KDE has all the latest packages

The Pisi Linux developers are trying really hard to keep their operating system on the bleeding edge. Most of the applications and even the Linux kernel are very new, so this makes the distro a very modern one. Very few developers actually go through the pain of upgrading some of the more complex components of their OS, but it seems to work just fine for Pisi.

"Pisi Linux has continued its activities after 1.0 and we reached our second stable version 1.1. This version resulting from intensive studies; strong, stable, comfortable to use, safe and so fast. The strength of the structure to prevent damage to your system uses hardware safely to the end. Also in this release, along with many innovations were offered to us."

"When it became apparent early in 2012 that for political/financial reasons, Pardus was to be abandoned, a small group of Turkish volunteers came together to preserve the unique features of Pardus. The name of this project is Anka (Turkish for Phoenix). Ultimately this was not possible - hence re-branding to Pisi Linux as a reference to Pardus and its package system PiSi (Pisi is Turkish for kitty)," the announcement reads.

The developers have explained that the Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.17.1, KDE 4.14.2 has been added by default, MATE 1.8.0 is available by default as well, and all the major applications (Firefox, LibreOffice, and so on) have been updated.
