Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow on PS2's Greatest Hits Program

Finally Jack Sparrow on PlayStation2. Bethesda Softworks has announced today Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow, for the PS2, being included in the system's Greatest Hits program.

Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks stated: "We are thrilled that Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow has been so enthusiastically received by consumers following its release last summer. The fact that the game has been added to the list of best-selling games for the PlayStation2 system is a wonderful recognition of the legions of fans around the world who have enjoyed this entertaining title."

Combining fast-paced action with adventure that captures the funny characters, beautiful settings, and spirit of the film (The Curse of the Black Pearl), the game unravels as gamers assume the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann. As a player, you can hack and slash your way through a dozen locations with fully interactive environments and varied gameplay. The action takes place in a variety of lush settings, including burning buildings, wrecked ships, and moonlit caves.

The game has also seen a GameBoy Advance port, where the ruthless Captain Barbossa rules the high seas with treasures beyond imagination. As rogue pirate Jack Sparrow, players' mission is to collect enough wealth to lead an attack against the dark captain and his band of undead! Fighting, cheating and stealing were a gamer's main goals in his quest for hidden treasures. Things have evolved since featuring voiceovers by Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. The game is now available at retail outlets for around $20.
