In a move set to make even more money off of the hugely successful Pirates of the Caribbean franchise of movies and video games, Disney has announced that it will publish Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned.

Developed by Propaganda Games, this new title will act as a prequel, as it is set before the movies from the franchise. Dubbed “an epic action role playing game,” Armada of the Damned will see players take on the role of a pirate and embark on travels around the world, fighting evil enemies, monsters and nature on both sea and land.

Disney promises a massive open world filled with characters and events that will affect their character's story and influence their choices. No word yet on whether or not players will be able to meet up with characters from the movies, such as Jack Sparrow, but we will get to hear more details about the story soon enough, possibly at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which will take place in June.

“Armada of the Damned is a dynamic action role-playing game that captures all of the franchise’s excitement, unpredictability and action while delving into narrative elements never before explored within this unique universe,” said Dan Tudge, vice president and general manager, Propaganda Games. “Our team’s collective experience with industry-leading RPGs and action titles provides a strong foundation for us to create and build a compelling action role-playing title.”

For those who can barely wait to go on their pirate adventures, Armada of the Damned will be released in autumn of next year and will be available for all next-generation consoles and Windows-based PCs. Until then, you can enjoy the movies and the games already based on the popular franchise and entertain yourselves with the colorful characters and unforgettable adventures.
