“Pirates of the Caribbean 5” won’t be coming to a theater near you in the summer of 2015, as Disney had initially estimated. The movie has been removed from the packed lineup, the studio confirms for Deadline.

Another release date has not been announced for the July 2015 one, but an educated guess would be summer of 2016.

President of Production Sean Bailey tells Deadline that competition from other movie studios had nothing to do with the decision, which was prompted by the desire to deliver a worthy follow-up to the fourth installment.

“Like audiences around the globe, we have high expectations for Jack Sparrow’s next adventure and we want to have all the right elements in place. We’re not there yet and we want to make sure this project is everything these wonderful characters and of course the fans deserve,” Bailey says.

The fifth film is believed to be called “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
