Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a video game released for the Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable and Game Boy Advance, and based on the movie bearing the same name. It was developed by Griptonite Games and Amaze Entertainment for the aforementioned platforms. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is an adventure title, which follows the events of the movie, but also brings new and interesting features that have not been included in the Hollywood blockbuster starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

The game also boasts role-playing elements, where Jack Sparrow, one of the playable characters, and his ship, the Black Pearl, can be completely customized. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest brings adventures that play out on land and sea.

In the former case, the player must defeat their enemies, search for treasures or for their comrades, and uncover items, rumors, or boat enhancements, which can be purchased from towns or harbors. In the latter, however, the gamer has to travel from one island to another, in order to progress through the story, or they can explore the world. Sea battles can also take place when the Black Pearl is steered towards other boats.

When such open conflicts occur, the cannons of both ships fire upon each other, and if the damage limit is met on one of them, it is possible to board it and plunder all of its food, water, or treasures. Playable characters include, besides Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Mortician, Lord Cutler Beckett and James Norrington. Launched on June 27 in North America, on July 7 in Europe, and on August 24 in Japan, the game has enjoyed some pretty good sales due to the movie beeing screened at the same time in theaters.

HINTS

All character statues

To get the Mortician statue, go to the Prison Cliffs and cross the first broken bridge. Head down where it has broken and take the golden trophy. To get Lord Beckett's statue, go the last part in Port Royal where you find a switch in one area to get to the next. There will be the trophy behind it. To get the one on the Cannibal's Island, head to where the water spot is found. It should be there or after it. To get the one at the swamp, enter the town area after completing the river section. When you are heading to the crocodile, it should just be in a small square area. The one in Tortuga is after you go down the wooden staircase. It is the farthest place you can go. The one in El Cruces is where you see Norrington running. It is at the far right end of the area.
