Hollywood studios and the Vatican City also hide a few pirates of their own

Considering just how loud some are about their fight against online piracy, you’d expect them to be completely innocent when it comes to such practices. Data indicates, however, that you’re bound to find pirates where you would least expect it.

According to TorrentFreak, members of the United States House of Representatives, the European Parliament, Hollywood Studios and even the Vatican are among those who often download content from various BitTorrent sites.

The data comes from ScanEye, a company that collects data for analytic purposes. As in many previous years, TorrentFreak reveals that the plan within the European Parliament to decriminalize file sharing for personal use makes sense since there are many pirates among its ranks. It looks like people behind IP addresses from within the European Parliament were particularly interested in movies such as “Elysium” and “Roulette,” but they also enjoyed “Breaking Bad.”

Among members of the House of Representatives across the pond, series “Song of Anarchy” topped the list when it came to popularity. The House does have, however, a strict anti-PSP policy, which makes pirating content rather difficult while at work.

Over in Hollywood, namely at the Paramount Pictures offices, “Mad Men” was quite the hit this year, data shows.

Vatican City might be the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s free of pirates, even when you consider that it has a population of about 840.

What did residents look for when downloading online content? Well, they really liked “Billy Elliot,” but they also didn’t refrain from enjoying some time in front of the computer by playing “Football Manager 2014.”

While it’s not uncommon to discover pirates everywhere, mainly people who are simply trying to enjoy content in the privacy of their own home, it is rather ironic that lawmakers and members of the Hollywood studios would be on the list.
