14 DAY TRIAL // The British Royal wedding was watched by tens of millions of people from across the world and, beautiful as the bride may have been, there's only one image that is forever burned in the minds of all those viewers – Pippa Middleton's backside clad in a tight white dress as she carried her sister's train.
Now, three years after the event took place, Pippa is able to joke about the incident and speak about the dress that brought her to international attention. The Alexander McQueen-designed dress managed to accentuate her curves in a way most pleasing to the eye.
Pippa was present at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner in London and the subject eventually turned to that fateful day and the famous dress. “As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and - you may say - its backside,” she quipped as she addressed the audience.
Talking about the incident, she mentioned that on the day of the wedding, she only had one thing in mind, that the dress would fit her, and when it did, she was “glad it fit.” But then she added “In retrospect it fit a little too well.”
But her regrets would only come much later, as she told the audience that at the time she was extremely nervous about the entire royal affair, so much in fact that she couldn't sleep for two nights prior to the nuptials.
Speaking with the British newspaper The Mirror, one of the people in attendance said that “It was the first time she's made a speech of this kind but you wouldn't have known it, she was so relaxed. It was unbelievable how open she was - I don't think anyone was expecting that.”
Sister to the Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa also took the time to express her disappointment and sadness when she found out that people were accusing her of cashing in her royal connection by writing book, magazine and newspaper columns.
She went on to tell the crowd that her life had significantly changed after the wedding day in April 2011 but she did not address the rumors that her famous sister Kate, wife to Prince William, is secretly 3-months pregnant with a baby girl.
Another guest concluded “She talked about the royal wedding and her career since. She came across as really grateful for the opportunities but also talked about the pitfalls of her position.”
