Just yesterday I told you Chinese manufacturer iFive is expected to launch one of the first tablets sporting a quad-core Rockchip RK3288 chips. But now, word on the street has it other slates running the same platform are incoming.

According to Chinese market watcher, Edward Weinert, pretty well known device maker, Pipo is gearing up to launch tablets running the chip mentioned above. The company is said to roll out 8.9-, 9.7- and 10.1-inch models at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair due to kick off in April.

The Rockchip RK3288 processor is actually a 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A17 quad-core processor with ARM Mali T-760 graphics. It has been designed to be implemented in mid-range tablets and will offer better performance than the earlier generation (RK3188).

Anyway, Pipo’s new tablets are supposed to be quite capable, coming with resolutions as high as 2560 x 1600 (the 10.1-incher supports 4K video playback).

All the three slates are said to be have Retina displays, so the smaller models are expected to boast iPad-like resolutions (2048 x 1536 pixels).
