Today, Pioneer has outed a new firmware package developed for some of its AVIC car GPS navigation systems, namely version 1.040400, which is available for both European and Russian device models.

This new version is to be used for updating the firmware on Pioneer’s AVIC-F60DAB, AVIC-F960BT, AVIC-F960DAB, and AVIC-F860BT units, and allows users to purchase Speed Camera data, as well as Optional TMC services from the producer’s naviextras website.

In order to benefit from this ability, save and extract the appropriate package for your device model and region, copy the “AVIC5000NEX” folder onto a formatted USB stick or SD memory card, and insert it into the GPS system.

Now, turn the unit’s source off, go to Home > System > Navigation Related Settings > System Information > Firmware Update, and choose “Continue” to send the update folder to the AVIC device.

After the transfer finishes (depends on the USB speed), touch “Start” to initiate the upgrade process and simply wait for the new firmware version to be applied on the GPS system (the progress is shown on the display).

Once the device has completely upgraded and the “Update Completed!” message is displayed, just press the “Home” button to reset the unit, remove the SD card/USB drive, and you’re done.

That being said, download Pioneer AVIC GPS Navigation Firmware 1.040400 for the appropriate device model and region, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and install the latest firmware on your product.
